The University of Massachusetts at Amherst will be holding a unique conference this upcoming weekend examining the significance of the Grateful Dead.  Several aspects of the legendary band and their phenomenal fans will be discussed at the event called “Unbroken Chain“.

Studying the band/fan relationship could help evaluate how bands survive the industry changes that are happening now.  They were a band ahead of their time in many ways.  Grateful Dead publicist, Dennis McNally, will give the keynote address.  He is also an Amherst alum.  Besides talking about the Dead, there will be live Deadhead-inspired music, of course!
