Glasto founder honored by the Queen

Call him ‘Commander’ now.  Michael Eavis accepted his CBE (an honor ranking just below knighthood) yesterday at Buckingham Palace by the Queen.

Speaking about the actual event, Eavis explained: “It was quite moving actually, walking down through the hall.

“It was very colourful, full of pomp and ceremony, the Beefeaters looked amazing and the Queen was good and chatty and friendly.”

It’s a wonderful honor, but I wonder why it took so long.  The Glastonbury Festival has been evolving since 1970.  Just last year the designer of the iPod received a CBE.  Go figure.
