Seems every tech-related publication is buzzing about Sandisk’s slotMusic today. Some are even calling it a ‘new format’. Hardly. It’s just an SD card with music on it. And get this…they’re talking to the labels about testing waters this fall with albums and artwork. But only 1 album and some sources say the pricing will be much the same as current digital album pricing.
So what’s the fuss? Sounds like everyone is still throughing crap on the wall to see what sticks. We’ve been through this all before. Ok, it will be DRM free. Good. But until they want to put a *large* amount of music on one of these, I don’t even want to try it.
Give me a card with a chunk of music for a good price & I’ll consider it, but one card per album is a waste of my time. Here’s the best critical analysis of the project I’ve read today.
