Tinted Windows – supergroup project

I never questioned why James Iha wasn’t part of the last edition of the Pumpkins. But now at least we know he’d been working on another project. And he’s not the only familiar name in the band – add a Hanson brother (Taylor), a member of Fountains of Wayne (Adam Schlesinger) and Bun E. Carlos from Cheap Trick.

That’s quite an eclectic group. As of yet I haven’t heard of any leaks to get an idea of what musical direction they’ve taken together. Supposedly all will be revealed at SXSW next month. Ooooh, the intrigue!

What I find interesting is the number of other bands on MySpace named Tinted Windows. Do bands still get contacted to give up their name if a bigger band chooses the same name?

…stay tuned.

Side note: Congrats to Jeff for getting the Stabbing Westward connection to the video I posted last week! That’s Christopher Hall now singing in the band ‘The Dreaming.’

  1. This is wonderfully confusing. I’m a little old to have gotten into Hanson, but I loved the Smashing Pumpkins, and agree with the EverHype (www.everhype.com/?utm_source=bc) review that called Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness “Fantastic” and gave it 4.5 stars. How long have these guys been playing together? Do they play live anywhere?

  2. I haven’t had a chance to see if there has been anything new revealed about the group since I posted this yesterday. It sounds as though they plan to keep everything under wraps until SXSW.
